With showers early, December is off to a warm start – WREX-TV

We have an above average start to the month of December before cooler weather sets in. 
Showers exit early leaving mild conditions and mostly cloudy skies.
Temperatures climb to be well above average for the first few days of December.
Warming up before temperatures drop into the 40’s this weekend.

We welcome in December with showers early and mild temperatures later this afternoon
ROCKFORD (WREX) — Light showers move through the Stateline early as a majority of our day will remain dry with mild temperatures. 
Rain early:
We have an above average start to the month of December before cooler weather sets in. 
With showers moving in early, most of the day stays dry but above average for the few couple days of December. 
Showers exit early leaving mild conditions and mostly cloudy skies.
A large system moves across much of Illinois and Wisconsin with most of the snow showers staying to our north. Back here at home, light rain showers sweep across northern Illinois. 
These showers may transition to a rain/snow mix with is likely to remain as rain with temperatures into the upper 30’s. The activity also doesn’t last very long with the latter half of the morning remaining dry. 
As the rain moves out, it may take some of the cloud cover with it for a chance to briefly see some sunshine before more clouds move in later this afternoon. 
We’ll wrap up the first day of December with mostly cloudy conditions with temperatures only falling into the lower 40’s overnight. 
Temperatures climb to be well above average for the first few days of December.
As we are likely to be above average this afternoon, tomorrow will be the warmest day of the week with temperatures likely to climb into the upper 50’s to lower 60’s. Temperatures are trending to be 20 degrees above average on Thursday which also puts us into record breaking territory. 
Along with warm temperatures, Thursday is also bringing some sunshine to the Stateline with mostly sunny skies expected. Mild conditions stick with us even into Friday with the lower 50’s likely. 
Slowly cooling:
With an above average welcome into December, temperatures will slowly fall into the weekend, especially next week. 
Warming up before temperatures drop into the 40’s this weekend.
Friday may be the last day we see temperatures reach into the lower 50’s as cooler temperatures arrive for the weekend. Forecast highs will reach the lower to middle 40’s. By Monday, highs may only reach the middle 30’s. 
After the showers move out this morning, the remainder of the forecast is trending to stay dry until we get to Sunday. Another system will bring us a chance to see a rain/snow mix as the activity may arrive early into Sunday. 
With temperatures to warm into the afternoon, we may see the showers transition back into rain. There are still many details that may change before the end of the weekend, stay tuned to your 13 Weather Authority for updates.
