The Virginia Cavaliers look to get back into the win column Saturday as they welcome  to Charlottesville.
UVA is coming off of an ugly 52-49 loss to James Madison on the road. That game saw the Cavaliers jump out to a 10-2 lead before going ice cold and letting the Dukes take a 24-14 lead into halftime.
Virginia would battle back and hold a 49-48 lead with under 90 seconds left but they would not score again. The Hoo’s were led by Jayson Gardner who had 12 points and 14 rebounds. He was joined in double-figures by Kihei Clark (11 points). UVA saw Kaden Shedrick put up eight points and five rebounds while Reece Beekman had five points, five rebounds, and four assists.
The loss dropped the Cavs to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the ACC. The 6-4 record is UVA’s worst through 10 games since Tony Bennett’s first season. Virginia should be able to get back on the right track Saturday as they play a Fairleigh Dickinson team that ranks No. 333 on KenPom. That is the worst team UVA plays this season according to those rankings.
Fairleigh Dickinson comes into Saturday’s game having yet to win a game this season. The Knights are 0-9 on the season and only two of their losses have come by single digits.
On Wednesday they were defeated by Fairfield 72-54. Wednesday was the first home game for FDU and their first eight games of the season all came on the road.
The Knights were led by Pier-Olivier Racine who had 12 points and four rebounds. FDU’s leading sorcerer Brandon Rush had 10 points on 3-13 shooting. They were without their second-leading sorcerer Devon Dunn.
The Knights have played three teams that play in power conferences and all three losses were by at least 13 points.
UVA is 4-2 at home this season while FDU is 0-8 on the road.

Players to watch:
Fairleigh Dickinson:
G Brandon Rush: 13.8 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 1.9 APG, 40.6% 2FG, 27.5% 3FG, 80.6% FT
Rush is the leading scorer on the Knights as he averages 13.8 points per game while playing 27 minutes per game. He’s hit double-figures five times this season including each of his last two games. He had 10 points and four rebounds on 3-13 shooting in the loss to Fairfield on Wednesday.

G Devon Dunn: 12.0 PPG, 1.9 RPG, 2.4 APG, 32.0% 2FG, 38.0% 3FG, 91.7% FT
Dunn is second on the team in scoring and first in assists. He is arguably the best shooter on the team and is a guy UVA needs to key on. He averages seven attempts per game from three. He has five games with 10 or more points including each of his last three. Dunn did not play in the Knight’s last two games and it hasn’t been announced if he will play against UVA.

F John Square Jr.: 7.4 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.2 APG, 61.0% 2FG, 0.00% 3FG, 65.4% FT
Square is third on the team in scoring and first in rebounding. He has two games that he scored in double-figures. He is coming off his worst game of the season as he had zero points and eight rebounds against Fairfield.

G Kihei Clark: 10.7 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 4.1 APG, 45.0% 2FG, 40.9% 3FG, 94.4% FT
Clark had 11 points and three assists in the loss to JMU. He shot 4-10 from the field including 3-9 from three. The rest of the team combined to make one 3-point field goal. Clark has scored 10 or more points in six of his last seven games. Look for him to extend that to seven of his last eight.
G Armann Franklin: 11.3 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 1.5 APG, 58.5% 2FG, 20.4% 3FG, 81.8% FT
Franklin had nine points and two assists in the loss to JMU. He was 4-14 from the field and 0-6 from three. In his last four games, Franklin is 0-18 from three and 14-45 from the field. Franklin needs to find his shot as the UVA offense desperately needs it.
F Jayden Gardner: 13.9 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 1.1 APG, 57.8% 2FG, 50.0% 3FG, 74.4% FT
Gardner had a solid game against JMU as he finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds for his fourth double-double this season. He shot 6-9 from the field and 0-1 from three. Gardner should have an excellent chance at another double-double Saturday.
