The weather turns active yet warmer this week
ROCKFORD (WREX) — Cooler and cloudy conditions continue into this week; seasonable temperatures return towards the end of the week and a major warm up is on its way!
Tonight & Tomorrow:
Flurries and extreme cold temperatures wrap up tonight, however there could be a stray flurry or two as the moisture moves out of our area. There was a break in the clouds this afternoon and that looks to be sticking around overnight, we could see some clouds sneak into the area though. Low temperatures tonight will be in the low 20s which is about ten degrees below our average for this time of year.
Wednesday is the other side of the coin; temperatures remain chilly but the sun returns! There will be some clouds to start out the morning, but they will be out of the Stateline area by mid-morning. Sunny skies will prevail tomorrow however temperatures will still remain slightly below average around the low to mid 30s. Low temperatures Wednesday night look to be sitting in the low 20s with a little bit breezy conditions coming back into the forecast
Looking ahead:
Enjoy the sunshine during the day on Wednesday because clouds return for Thursday and the chance for some mixed precipitation returns overnight on Thursday into Friday.
The pattern switches over the course of Thursday and into Friday. Precipitation stays to the north on Thursday while we see mostly cloudy skies, we could see a brief period of some isolated flurries if any precipitation makes its way down. Temperatures warm up a tad with highs on Thursday in the low to mid 40s. Clouds stick around overnight Thursday as temperatures drop into the upper 20s
Friday is the day we will see any significant precipitation in the form of rain showers. The heaviest precipitation stays to the south of us, a few rumbles of thunder could be expected in some of the southern storms. Cloudy skies and temperatures that remain well above average in the upper 40s close to 50 degrees.
We cool down over the weekend into the low to mid 30s and 40s. Saturday the highs will be in the low 30s while Sunday temperatures rise to the mid 40s. Sunny conditions prevail for both days. Warm weather is in store for us for the start of next week as we could see temperatures rise to upper 50s!
