Hokah hosts third annual holiday market
HOKAH, Minn. (WXOW) — Artists and business owners from the Hokah area gathered throughout Main Street for the third annual Holiday Merry Market, Saturday.
The Merry Market had 50 vendors selling items such as Christmas decorations, honey and honey products, wood art, art made out of horseshoes and everyday household items.
Those shopping at the holiday market could shop with the vendors in two locations; outside on the sidewalks lining Main Street or inside Hokah City Hall and St. Peter’s Hall.
One of the organizers of the event said it gives a small community like Hokah the chance to show what they have to offer.
“It just means people kind of forget about their small towns and small town shopping,” Merry Market Organizer Kris Jergenson said. “Bringing them here and having them remember how important their local community and their hometown. It means a lot.”
Jergenson, having started the Merry Market three years ago, only had three stipulations for vendors. The items sold must be homemade, homegrown, or a part of a home business.
