10 Unbelievable Things Found Deep In The Woods
Why The Color Of Our Oceans Is Changing
Climate change and human encroachment exterminated 70 percent of Earth’s megafauna species about 10,000 years ago. But thanks to fossilized and preserved remains, we know what kind of animals coexisted with humans during that era. Predictably, they were large and unique, and we’re here to tell you all about them.
But before you check out the video, we’ll tell you a few facts so you have an idea of what to expect. Did you know that there was an eagle with a 10-foot wingspan that preyed on 500-pound flightless birds? If this species could predate a 500-pound animal, imagine what it could do to us. Another behemoth from 8000 BC was the dire wolf: the inspiration for the Game of Thrones dogs of the same name. This canine could weigh as much as 240 pounds and prey on six-ton mammoths and mastodons.
Another species that we will describe in this video is the giant ground sloth. It was a sloth, in the same family as the slow, dopey modern animals, but one that was the size of an elephant and could attack potential predators with its seven-inch claws.
There’s much more where these species came from. You won’t want to miss the 10 animals in this video.
